THUJA 1.0

Looking at Thuja through a microscope.
Small leaves look similar to reptile scales.
Layers create a water-repellent function.

My approach to the design process was to use the scales and layers  to create something that would lead the water away from the body.
I worked with how I could cover my scales to make them waterproof without the use of chemicals.
I found that bee wax has the same water-repellent effect and when covering the fabric with melted bee wax and then re-heating it to let the bee wax sink in to the fabric, it would get the same kind of water repellency.
By layering the “scales” on the chest and shoulders I could get the water to be directed away from the body.
